EMV Technology: Keeping Your Credit and Debit Transactions Safe and Secure
EMV Technology, also known as “Computer Chip Technology” is used to improve security on credit and debit card transactions.  In the wake of numerous large-scale data breaches and the increasing incidents of credit card fraud, most U.S. card issuers are now moving to EMV technology. The biggest benefit of EMV is the reduction in credit card fraud resulting from counterfeit, lost, or stolen cards. EMV cards store payment information in a secure chip rather than on a magnetic stripe, making it virtually impossible to create a counterfeit EMV card that can be used to conduct payment transactions successfully. With EMV Technology, card skimming and card cloning, two of the most common methods of credit card fraud, are significantly reduced.  And while EMV technology cannot prevent data breaches from occurring, it can make it much harder for criminals to successfully profit from what they steal.
EMV Technology – just one more way Oxford FCU is working to keep you financially save and secure.
